Lead poisoning continues to threaten children across the United States, particularly in low-income communities and older housing. This article highlights the experiences of families impacted by lead exposure, the long-term health effects on children, and the ongoing advocacy efforts of organizations like UPAL and CLASH working to promote lead-safe housing, stronger protections, and public awareness.

A nationwide study by Healthy Babies Bright Futures found that rice sold across the U.S. contains toxic heavy metals, including arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury. After testing 145 rice brands in 20 major cities, researchers detected arsenic in every sample, with one in four exceeding the FDA’s limit for infant rice cereal.
